Travertine Tile

Travertine is a naturally occurring stone that develops around certain mineral springs, giving it it’s unique appearance. Eco-friendly, and durable, travertine has characteristic warm neutral tones. In its natural state, travertine is porous and has a tendency to be pitted, but has 4 common treatments when used as floor or wall tiles.

• Polished: buffed until it is smooth and shiny
• Honed: holes and crevices are filled, and then the stone is sanded to give a smooth, almost matte finish
• Tumbled: travertine tiles are tumbled with smaller stones to get a weathered, rustic finish
• Brushed: tiles are smoothed slightly with a wire brush, leaving less texture than tumbled, but not as smooth as honed.
